WHAT QUESTION 1 WILL DO

1. Include the City Council: Allow City Councilors to better represent you by giving them the tools to amend and improve the Mayor’s budget.

2. Require Participatory Budgeting: By 2024, create an independent office that allows us to propose and vote on parts of the city budget.

WHY THIS IS BETTER

Boston’s budgeting process has been almost entirely controlled by the Mayor. For everyone else--including our elected City Councilors--we've barely had a say! Question 1 will better balance the Mayor, City Council and our communities to make the budget more fair and inclusive in the future.
